Journey of Faith

Are you interested in becoming a Catholic, if so this course is for you  

or if you simply wish to know more about your faith?

‘Journey of Faith’ Thursday at 7.30pm

Each session lasts about one and quarter hours. This programme is especially suited for those who want to become Catholics or for those who want to deepen their faith.  If you are interested would you kindly

Evening Prayer and Benediction today at 3pm.

Parish Advisory Council meeting this evening at 7pm in the Priory.

Mothers Day - The 10am Mass next Sunday will be a school Mass.  The children of St Mary’s School will perform all the ministries.

Walk with Me Lenten prayer booklets are on sale at 50p each.

Children’s Liturgy.  There will be a meeting after 10am Mass today.

Stations of the Cross Saturday at 11.45am.

Holy Week  the form is at the back of church for all those who wish to take part in the Holy Week and Easter Celebrations..  Please volunteer.  Thank you.

Journey of Faith Programme  Thursday 7.30pm in St Mary’s Priory.

APF Red Boxes total amount was £561.79p.  Thank you for your generosity.  The boxes are now ready for collection at the back of church.  The APF person is Roberta Meredith (e-mail: robertaggmeredith@yahoo.com)

Offertory Procession it was proposed and passed at the PAC that more people should be involved in the offertory procession.  If you or members of your family would like to take part in this at one of the Sunday masses please fill in the offertory procession list at the back of the church.  Thank you.

Saturday 20th March - Day of Recollection for those involved in the Ministries.  This will be an opportunity to reflect on what is involved in the various Ministries and what we can bring to them.  Ministers of the Word, the Eucharist, Music, Collectors, Catechists and those involved in the RCIA are invited to attend.  Of course any parishioners interested will be most welcome.  The day will be lead by Father John Meredith who is the Chair of the Archdiocesan Liturgy Commission and will take place in the Parish Hall from 10am to 1pm.

Prayer Board - the prayers on the prayer board will be taken up at the Offertory Procession during 10am Mass at the end of March and then quarterly

Social St Mary’s - The Parish Advisory Council discussed the possibility of more social events.  Ideas such as ‘a walk in the park’ to a ‘dinner followed by Old Time dancing’ were discussed.  Suggestions please to a PAC member or one of the priests.  There is plenty of scope, all suggestion will be considered.

Going into Hospital?  It can be a worrying time, going into hospital.  If you are a Catholic you will need all the support you can get from your Church.  Due to Data Protection hospitals can’t give out the religion of patients.  Priests will only know who is in hospital if someone tells them.  Please tell the priest if you are going into hospital or someone you know is in hospital and would like a visit.

Message to the Italian Community - 2nd July 2010 is the 70th anniversary of the sinking of the Arandora Star carrying interned civilians (mostly Italians) from Britain to Canada.  A special memorial will be unveiled in a ceremony in St David’s Cathedral on this date.  The organisers wish to contact those connected with the tragedy.  Web-site: www.arandorastarwales.vs 

Mary Immaculate High School - you are asked to consider Mary Immaculate High School if you want the best for your child.  This is a happy school with many positives.  Recently the Governors appointed a new head teacher to lead the school at an exciting period in its development.  The new head Mr Marc Belli will take up his appointment in June.

CAFOD - The annual joint CAFOD and Cardiff Archdiocesan Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation Network will be held on Saturday 13th March at Llantarnam Abbey, Cwmbran.  The theme is ‘The Preferential Option for the Poor  what does this mean in practice?’  The conference will run from 10am - 4pm all are welcome to attend.  Please bring your own lunch and a £5 donation to help cover costs.  Further information on: www.southwales@cafod.org.uk
